An historian, author, and educator, Faulk was born in 1933 in Winnsboro, Texas, and received B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from Texas Tech University. He taught at Texas A&M, University of Arizona, Arizona State, and Arizona Western before becoming head of the history department at Oklahoma State University in 1972.
